BFe10-1-1 Iron White Copper

BFe10-1-1 is a structural iron white copper with a low nickel content.

The addition of Fe and Mn in the BFe10-1-1 alloy significantly improves the material's resistance to erosion. In clean seawater, the alloy can withstand a water flow velocity of 2.2–2.5%/s. In slightly saline solutions, the maximum acceptable velocity can reach 4 m/s. This alloy avoids stress corrosion cracking and high-temperature dezincification. Therefore, it exhibits excellent corrosion resistance to clean or moderately polluted seawater and estuary water, making it widely used in heat exchangers that utilize seawater in power plants, desalination facilities, and petrochemical plants.

As a result, BFe10-1-1 is mostly used in the form of plates and tubes.

Corrosion Resistance

The corrosion rates of BFe10-1-1 alloys with different rare earth contents were measured in flowing seawater medium, and corrosion products were analyzed using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy.

Results showed:

For BFe10-1-1 alloys of the same composition, the higher the seawater flow velocity, the greater the corrosion rate.

In flowing artificial seawater, the main corrosion type of BFe10-1-1 alloy is exfoliation corrosion. When the rare earth content is 0.04%, the alloy exhibits the best seawater corrosion resistance, forming a dense corrosion product layer containing rare earth phases (such as CeNi5) with fewer microcracks, firmly bonded to the substrate, effectively slowing the corrosion rate and improving corrosion resistance.

When the rare earth content is too high, corrosion resistance decreases instead.

Heat Treatment Specifications

Casting temperature: 1330–1350°C

Annealing temperature: 780–810°C

Hot extrusion processing temperature: 900–960°C

Low-temperature annealing for stress relief: 250–300°C.
